Steve Olofsson musical portfolio.

My name is Steve Olofsson, i am a stockholm-based keyboardplayer and music composer/producer. My main musical styles are jazz, blues, funk and electronic versions of them, techno/house electronica, chill/mood electronica, and im also very fond of retro sounds from the NES and C64 for example. I have 4+ years of music training, and have ever since kept on evolving on my own. In total i have been playing keyboard and writing music for over 10 years. I began playing music as a kid, trying to play all the megaman songs on the piano, and from there on it has been a musical journey. Im currently doing various consulting work in the game development and educational area.

Im always interested in working on inspiring projects, dont hesitate to contact me about inquiries for your project.

Portfolio & Samples:

Harvest: Massive Encounter is an award-winning real-time strategy game for Mac OS X and Windows with battles of epic proportions and a unique style of resource management and exploration. In this 2D fantasy you take on the role as the base commander of a space colony far, far away, and must use five building types in a creative way to efficiently expand and defend it. Build power plants, mineral harvesters and defense towers and make sure they have sufficient energy to fend off endless hordes of evil aliens. The game offers a vast array of possible strategies with these simple rules, and will compel you to try new and better base designs every time.

"Steve did an excellent work on the Harvest music. He catched the mood perfectly and we will definitely hire him again in the future."

Planet Theme: Hephaestus
description: This is the track for the entry level planet in Harvest. I wanted to create a cool spacevibe to break the ice and introduce the player into a forward motion, knowing that this track would also be the one song featured in the demo its extra important that its as inviting as possible. I used one of a few classical space-sounding cordprogressions with some cool pads and coupled it with a funky and driving beat.

Planet Theme: Ares
description: Ares is a mystical planet with a lot of big holes on the surface. My inspiration for the track was to imagine what's lurking down in the caves below the surface, and i went in the direction of mystical/spiritual. As always, i like to incorporate a mix of acoustic sounds with a strong presence of electronic instruments and sounds..

Planet Theme: Poseidon
description: For the icy and windy planet Poseidon, i chose to start with some ambience and build on that until i was at full speed ahead with the groove. To get that icy feeling, alot of bells and mallets was used combined with some synth-pads. In all three songs i retained the goal of building up to give the player a sense of becoming more powerful.

Portal @ Reunionstudio.org
description: Portal was the first Reunion track i did, and it has turned out to be my favorite yet. I was inspired by my friend Jonas Loman, who does some really wicked music, to explore new ways of my own musical style. This track opened up my inspiration to continue to explore this new style.

Mindstorm @ Reunionstudio.org
description: This is my second release @ Reunionstudio.org and its a experimental kind of chaotic track, the track keeps building for the final cord-progression change. This was inspired by an old song i had lying in my library.

Quantum @ Reunionstudio.org
description: My latest release is basically two musical idéas merged together, kind of a fun experiment, the cords in the second part is made up of a piano + synth that is run through a vocoder, it creates a very cool melodic line in the cords.
